What has happened so far on the program?

I started Bigger Leaner Stronger after I got to 185. That is were I stalled in my weight loss and development. I weigh 175 in my after picture.

My bench went from 235 for 1 to being able to do 245 for 5 reps. My squat went from 225 for 5 reps to 265 for 5 reps. I had never done deadlifting I have always have a lower back problem. I slowly worked up to 335 for 6 reps.

What, if anything, almost kept you from buying the book or starting the program?

I honestly didn’t think it was going to be enough volume or high enough reps to induce muscle hypertrophy. I had always heard you just do endless sets of 8-12 reps.

What do you like most about the program?

I learned to love the volume. Although I am out of the gym much faster (use to be 2 hours. Now 45-60 mins), the intensity to volume ratio is perfect and I never feel burned out but that I got a great workout!

And lifting heavier weight is also much more enjoyable!

How does this program compare with others you’ve tried?

The program was much different like I’ve talked about. Most people looked at me weird when I was curling 50 pound DBs for 4-6 reps, but the results speak for themselves.

I honestly didn’t follow a lot of the diet. I knew a lot about macros and proper ratios from when I was losing weight. One of my favorite nutrition guys is Alan Aragon and I learned a ton from him. I was happy to see that everything Mike talked about went along with what I had learned from those experts. It only made me respect the way he looked at fitness more.

How has what you’ve achieved with your body changed other areas of your life?

I have definitely seen a productivity and motivation overhaul. I am currently a student in college studying to become a physical therapist. I love to read Mike’s blog and have started reading some of his nook recommendations like “The 48 Laws of Power.”

Probably one of the most helpful things I learned was the power of consistency. Doing small things day in and day out really do turn into big changes in the long run. I have seen this in my grades (currently have a 3.95 GPA) as well as many other aspects of my life.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

Coming from someone who was on the complete opposite spectrum of fitness (weighed 305 pounds and had no motivation), I can say that anyone can change their body and mind for the better! I was able to achieve a lot before I stumbled upon Mike’s stuff, but BLS definitely changed my outlook on life and fitness.

It not only has enabled me to train smarter and more effectively, but the improvements it made in my life outside of the gym are just as, if not more, important and profound. I have nothing but thanks and respect for Mike! He had helped me change my life for the better!
